Product Details:

The cooling fan has been engineered to fit the prop hub on the R-50. The fan will provide additional forced air cooling to the crankcase in tight cowl applications such as the P51 Mustang. In such models, the cooling offered to engine is generally inadequate.

In the case of the Rev-50 engine, our tests revealed that the cylinder is sufficiently cooled when the bottom of the cowl is properly cut out for cooling considerations. However, inside the top portion of the cowl, convective cooling is not established due to the small chin-scoop on the cowl. Some of the heat from the engine head conducts to the crankcase. This eventually creates a vapor-lock on the fuel induction, shutting down the engine.

For the fan to be efficient, a shroud, which is no more than 1/8th inch larger than the diameter of the fan, is required. For air intake, a short duct from the shroud in front of the fan blades to the vent on the cowl is essential.

Other actions which will help reduce vapor-lock include:-

Setting the engine slightly richer will allow the engine to run cooler.

Ducting cool air to the carburetor intake.
